The True Master

*******

Blessed is the person who becomes a "master." But she is never a "master" of others; she has learned to "master" only the self. This means that she has gained the mastery of harmful anger, violence, rage, frustration, anxieties, boredom, uncreative and unproductive states of mind, etc.

No, my friend, it is not appropriate to call any human being "master." And no spiritually wise person will want, or allow, you to call her "master." That would be only a sign of tremendous ego-infection and deep spiritual illness. For if she is not a real master, you have made an error; but if she is a real master, she does not need to have, and does not want, this ego-reinforcement. In fact, a true teacher wants you to call her something much higher than "master." She wants you to call her "friend."

This is so beautiful, my friend!

This is the first post I've read on your blog, and by the looks of things, I think I'll enjoy reading the rest of it.
