Greed

As far as this junk re conspiracies involving the Masons, Rosicrucians, Illuminati, etc., they are as old as the hills and as boring as watching paint dry. Nutcases and fringe-groups have been bemoaning "secret conspiracies" forever.

But we no longer have need for borderline-conspiracy theories, for we now have a very public and non-secret conspiracy among corporations and the gov. This is creating empire through the murder of thousands of innocents. War-action has already killed a hundred thousand people, including innocent men, women, and children in Iraq alone.

This is no longer simply a "political" issue. Instead, it has now become a human issue. It is a fully spiritual issue. For it affects life and death, and concerns justice, morality, ethics, fairness. It concerns greed, grasping, clinging, and attachment-- all deeply spiritual issues, in Buddhism and in general spirituality.

Violence has always been a spiritual issue. So has the over-development of greed. So has wounding, injuring, and murdering human beings. A spiritual person can hardly be expected to remain silent about all these very important spiritual issues. Greed has become the "national religion" of the leaders of our country-- and it shows. It crushes all claims that they are "Christian" in any sense of the word. Christians do not start wars; and they do not attack! This is "offensive" (as contrasted with "defensive") violence, and it breaks all the laws of Love and compassion.

Greed is sucking, draining, the very life-blood of the idealism that used to constitute the moral and philosophic backbone of true democracy. Cheating, dishonesty, murder, and general violence are indeed the tools of greed.

"Fascism" was a form of government that Hitler made everyone despise. But how is "fascism" defined? Simple: It is the sharing of governmental power with corporations.

Greed inevitably wrecks any realistic hope for spirituality. Greed is a form of trembling fear. It is embraced by only people who are terrified of life. Greed is the "inner terrorist" who haunts the minds of dishonest people. Their inborn conscience will give them no rest, day or night.

Greed hurts people. Mostly, and first, it hurts the greedy themselves, even though, in their illusion-hallucinations, they try to talk themselves into feeling "secure" in their terror. Greed is, at this very moment, ruining lives, murdering people for oil-money, and creating war to increase the greed-lust. What is happening in the actual horror of the headlines makes conspiracies boring by comparison. It's happening right out in the open! I think that this is where we need to devote our timenergy. Anything that distracts, or detracts, from that, is serving the enemy-- rightwing whackos and their ilk. If we are going to change the world, we had better begin asap!
