A person, especially if she is a being of Love, might, and probably should, have many friends!:) For friendship is the essence of practical, realistic Love on this tiny planet. Together with service, friendship is the most common, and beautiful, expression of Love.
The being of Love will have friends of both sexes. Some will be admired, some adored, and all, deeply appreciated, treasured, and beloved. But, among all these friends and acquaintances, only one can and will reach the zenith of her very best Love. And that is the monogamous, exclusive Lovepartner, the Soulcompanion of this life.
The Lovepartner or Lovecompanion remains at the center of the heart as a receiver of a magnificent, wonderful, blissful Love.
Among all, this Love is special, unique, and exquisite. For, unlike all other Loves, this one enjoys a deep sexual sharing. Sex is one of the many ways that the being of Love celebrates the Power of Love in her life.
But, to be the best that it can be, sexual Love requires a special and exclusive vow to share sexually with only one's Lovepartner. Unlike the terrible conditions of primitive and ancient cultures (David, Moses, and even the great Solomon married more than one person, practicing polygamy), the conditions of the modern world permit a deeper, more lasting, more exclusive Love. One of the many reasons that this Love is the "diamond" of Love is its exclusivity. This prevents its degeneration into commonality, and its becoming "ordinary," or even boring.
As we age, sexual drives and appetites lesson somewhat, but they are energized and enormously enriched by a greater Love as we grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The lover becomes the "local" Lovexpression of God or Goddess. For more, and better, Love is invested in her heart than in any other in the world. And if we are very lucky, the Lovecompanion is a being of loyalty, intelligence, humor, wisdom, spirituality, and related jewels. This has been the case in this life, and, on Valentine's Day-- as well as on every other-- these facts are celebrated!
So, although we do not worship our Lovepartners, we can and do worship through our Love for them. So, let us vow deep within the heart to renew our Love, to make it new and bright, during this special season. Let us forgive and forget imperfections. For, if we wish ever to be forgiven, we must forgive.
Let's rediscover our "young hearts" and love with the entire heart and mind. Let us create peace, tranquility, and bliss-- all of which arise from only Love. Let us gift our beloved with the deepest, surest, brightest, and warmest Love of a clean, Loveinspired heartmind! Let us remember Love, in every moment, never daring to forget that It is Life Itself. Let us dig deeply within the heart to retrieve a joy that is beyond this world, that is supernatural-- the bliss of Love!

Waiting for God

Just sitting around and waiting for God to reveal Him/Herself is just fine. God will reveal God in God's own time.
But God has also gifted us with a brain, a mind, intelligence. I do not personally feel that a human being is doing her very best if she does not use intelligence, and even higher wisdom, to guide her life. So, I feel that God, in the deeper Mind, calls upon all of us to "ask, search, and knock" on the "door" of the heartmind. In other words, those who actively search for the meaning of that mysterious word "God"-- perhaps the greatest mystery of all time-- tend to grow more, and faster, spiritually.
Of course, we do have forever, and God is not in a hurry. Neither need we be! But spiritual growth is both fun and deeply satisfying. We do not pursue the wisdom of God because we are in some kind of "race," but because it is the most important pursuit in the world, if not the cosmos!
Life is so much incredibly richer with spirituality than without it!
As noted, this need not lead us to the many dead-ends of religion. We can safely by-pass religion altogether, in fact, if we have discovered spirituality.

The "Second Coming" of Christ

I have found your email debate about the word used in Matthew 24:3 fascinating. Here, the disciples asked Jesus, "What will be the sign of your coming, and the end of the age?"
Here, the Greek word for "coming" is parousia, and our friend reflects the standard cult-doctrine that this word really means "presence," not "coming."
This debate is interesting because it can alter the doctrine that Jesus "came into his kingdom invisibly, in heaven," and nobody on earth saw a thing!
It is an interesting doctrinal conundrum, but spiritual people, who are free of the necessity to embrace or reject most doctrines, including this one, say that the word could be translated either way. For, in the larger spiritual overview, it really does not matter.
For the "first coming" of the Christ, in Jesus, was personal (to Jesus), public, historical, chronological, and external. It would be redundant and incompetent for God (Love) to do this twice. If we take these factors one at a time, we can get a whole new understanding-- one that you have probably considered, but the cult never has:
1) Personal. The "second coming" (or, "presence") of Christ would not be personal-- to one man, Jesus. Rather, it would occur for the benefit of everyone. For the Scriptures say, "Every eye will see Him," but not necessarily at the same time.
2) Public. If the first coming was a public event, the second coming could well be to the individual. Christ would, in his second coming, reveal himself as dwelling in the heart of the being with a more cosmic perspective. (This itself would be a part of grace, a part of the "gift" of God, and not the result of doctrinal conformity.) So, here, we must carefully distinguish between the historical man "Jesus," and the eternal Spirit-- "Christ"-- that still lives within the hearts of every one of us. In the first two centuries, we see this same distinction made in Christian writings. The "second coming" was the return of the "Christ," not the historical man Jesus.
3) Historical. The first "coming" or "presence" of the Christ occurred once in history, in the person of the enlightened master Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus was not, of course, the only enlightened being ever to live in history. But his birth, ministry, teachings, and death were historical events (as well as possibly allegorical ones in the Gospels). So, the second coming would be, not a history-making event that would attract the attention of many, but a non-historical and individual event revealed only to the one to whom it occurred.
4) Chronological. Because it was historical, it also occurred within a chronological bracket. It occurred at a specified time, began and ended on the calendar. It was a timebased and timelimited event. The second coming is not like this: It has already occurred in some hearts, and has not yet occurred in others. At its peak, it is the gnosis of the personal being's Unity with the Mind of Love. Each person is a part of,
and an expression of, the universal or cosmic Mind of Love. But different persons realize this at different times.
5) External. While Christ's first coming was clearly "external"-- among the people and events of the "outer" world, the second coming would be an interior event. It would occur within the heartmind of the individual as an intense and instant realization. She would realize that Christ, as pure Love-mind, lives deeply within her Unconscious. In fact, he lives deeply as the Core of the collective Unconscious shared by all minds, and so, is not a "personal" possession, even though a personal relationship is very desirable. But really, one is possible only after an "introduction." Christ "stands knocking at the door" of the mind, the Scriptures say, but we must invite Him "in."

Renouncing Fear

When Jesus used the phrase, "Get thee behind me, Satan!" he was not insulting his disciple, whom he loved. (I think that this was Peter, trying to comfort him by denying his personal prophecy of a very troubled future.)
Instead, he was referring, in a dramatic way, to the lower nature. This is the fear-nature. It resists Love, and is its conceptual opposite. That is why, "Fear and Love cannot coexist. For Love, when it is made complete, casts fear outside." (1 Jn. 4:18)
The future described by Jesus was dark and scary to the lower human nature. It tended to trigger fear. So, it was this fear that was being reprimanded by Jesus.
Since he knew that God was Love, the only "satan" was the opposite of Love, or fear. Since Jesus was "true man" as well as "true God," his human nature (side) was capable of fear-reactions. The "devil" of fear could affect this weaker, lower nature.
In an almost exorcistic way, he cast this fear from him! Knowing that this account would be recounted in the future, he wanted to make it a dramatic, even unforgettable, one.
This is the best example of how we should all learn to deal with fear. Fears can spoil or ruin our lives in several significant ways. When we encounter them in ourselves, in our heartminds, we dare not respond with complacency or apathy. Jesus taught us to respond with alarm! We must identify the fear, and then, immediately reject, renounce, and eject it! Only this ridding of fear leaves "room" for Love to fill the heartmind, since both cannot exist in the same heartmind at the same time.
Fear and Love exist in inverse proportions within us. That is, our entire heartmind is one hundred percent capacity. So, if there is seventy percent fear, for example, there can be only thirty percent Love. If there is forty percent fear, there can be sixty percent Love. Fifty percent fear allows for only fifty percent Love.
Anyway, our elevated and noble goal is fear, zero, and Love, one hundred percent. Can any truly human being ever reach and realize this ideal? Perhaps not; but that does not matter anyway. For it is the reaching for this fine goal that transforms us, every minute of every day.

Psychomodification and Homeworld Education

I must agree that the sweet and kind Susan [pseudonym] does not "deserve" her life as it appears to be right now. But we should never forget that a life-pattern for any life is designed by the immense intelligence/wisdom called the "unconscious Soulmind," so her tests and exams are not happening "at random."
A few souls incarnate on earth, from time to time, to accelerate vastly their spiritual growth. Many wise mysticsaints suffered, in their human manifestations (and dream) from incurable, often complex, challenges. These challenges were never easy or fun for them, or for the souls to whom they were so solidly bound in Love.
Trials of this nature can be quite trying. But, in the end, they can drive one to the very limits of human spirituality, and even beyond those apparent limitations, pushing one into the interior realms of the superhuman.
These things barely ever occur to "evil" people. So, they also drive all of us to seek their deeper, practical, and more realistic meanings and origins. Far, far too many childish minds simply dismiss the entire cosmos as "unjust," blind, or even evil. These shallow thinkers cut themselves off from God (Love), "eat of the tree of good and evil," and get whacked out of "paradise" (Eden means "pleasure.") All joy is sucked rom their heartminds, leaving them to die of spiritual thirst on a superheated desert. This dreamed "separation from Love" can never be real; but it is the very definition of the psychogenic state of "hell."
On the other hand, it can take some fancy footwork, as well as profound cognition (combined with acognitive therapy) for us to develop the hypersensual awareness of the meaning of Love in all this. The "easy way out," the lazy "cop out" is simply to deny that the cosmos has any meaning, and to die a horible, selfchosen, agonizing death in that spiritual desert.
Love is not "joking" with these earthlives. Before incarnation, at special classes in the Homeworld, we are prepped for the horrors and nightmares that earthlife might well bring us. In that preincarnational life, we are quite thoroughly grounded in the single fact that Love is in control of our life-designs, and never, never to forget this one fact, no matter how "terrible" our lives seem to become. This deep spiritual
education is also designed, precisely, by experts thousands of years old, to keep us from falling into hopeless panic. And blessed is she who can remember, and know.
You, like us, are being forced down the ghastly road to soulical memory, to recall your own powerful education, to call upon, and draw upon, every single interior resource to which your Soul has access.

Sharing the Message of Love

Obviously, everyone is not ready to hear the mystic's position regarding life and the cosmos. The best way to present the Way to a person who is closed down, as so many "Christians" are, to new ideas is simply, over and over, to emphasize Love.
In the continuous and relentless emphasis on Love, you will be "on the same page" as Jesus, although some "Christians" might disagree.
We must keep always in mind that we are not assigned any life but our own. Another person's heartmind is not within the scope of our mission or assignment. We must cultivate a Love for others, but to change them is up to God; that is His mission, not ours.
But because we do love them, we would like nothing better than to have them taste of the wonderful, limitless Love of the Father. But we must let go and let God. We must never try to change another's point of view. Mystics are not proseletyzers; we do not make "converts"to the Way. But we do want to "be there" for anyone who is ready to change, to support and help to educate others. For this is the work of Love.
So, talk of Love. Speak always of God as Love, and of Love as truth. In time, with the help of the Holy Spirit, this great and delightful message can penetrate even the thickest skull, the most closed mind. By grace, and given time, this message can finally "sink into" any heartmind.
But we can, most importantly, "teach without speaking." We can make our lives models of tolerance, compassion, patience, and other virtues. Exercising humility, we can refuse to bring attention to ourselves. We can make our lives a living message. And this is, in the end, far more important than anything that we can say.
