It is very, very good to unmask perfectionism for the destructive, sabotaging "demon" that it truly is.
For it is no servant of God (Love), but the "devil" (fear). It pushes us away from Love, especially a special type called "selflove," thus edging that part of God out of our lives. Of course, God never abandons or leaves any life, not even for a nanosecond. If this impossibility occurred, that life would cease immediately, that mind disappear. But, in all the history of all the universe, no mind, once created, has ever been de-created, even though several minds have required major reconstruction (education) in Love.:)

Perfectionism A "Demon"

Everything taught here in spirituality, with very few and very tiny exceptions, has been learned through the "school of hard knocks," or karma. Very little of true wisdom can be learned through books only, although books can be reliable guides if written by, and in, Love.
So glad and happy that you have dropped that ol' dragon perfectionism.
Like guilt, when we see it as a disease-- and not a factor that can improve life-- we can lay it to rest forever, rejecting it from our lives and minds. Only then can we really start to recover from our "slavery" to this evil master.

Note on "satanism"

"Demon-worship" is not a term used in professional sociology or psychology. It is related to "devil-worship," and is the false belief that God has a real opposite in the form of a superspirit called "satan." This "satan" was originally a common noun, in the ancient documents. It was not a name, and that is why it is spelled here with a lower-case initial letter.
A "satan" was any "resister" of God or God's will. So, a "satan" could be any person of cruelty or insensitivity to Love. But, in time, the word became modified into a proper name. And, in history, this "Satan" became the polar opposite of God.
God is Love, and Love has no real or genuine opposite. But it does have a conceptual (mental) opposite. And this opposite of Love is fear.
But back to the myth of "Satan" as a being: The myth says that he was a kind of superangel named "Lucifer." (This name means "bringer of Light," so it emphasizes how we learn lessons of Light from even "darkness." Since we are pained by the absence of Light, even that can teach us.)
In the myth, this "Satan" convinced a number of "angels" to "follow him in rebellion against God."
The story is a warning against pride, for this was Lucifer's great weakness. The "fallen angels" became "demons." This is a warning that even very powerful and spiritual Mindfactors ("angels") can become the victims of pride.
Some ignorant people, who take this myth for literal history, are especially common among the uneducated and the spiritually naive or unsophisticated. Since they believe that "satan" and "demons" are real and literal creatures or beings, they sometimes "worship" these forces of darkness and ignorance, the energies of fear.
Often, so-called "satanists" are not really serious. Many more modern, or more sophisticated, "satanists" do not even believe in a personal devil. Many are in the cult simply to shock people. They love to poke fun at religion (and they have much historical "ammunition"). So, most are not truly "pro-satan," but simply "anti-God." This was true of the writer of The Satanic Bible, for example, written back in the 1970's. It was almost a work of comedy, and was little more than a dark satire on religion. So, many "satanists" are not at all serious.
They reject, and are often in active rebellion against, the ridiculous idea that "God" is some superbeing, the "ultimate extraterrestrial," a "soldier" in the sky, or that God is a violent, childish, murderous king or law-giver. They laugh at the primitive, often absurd, ideas that God is a torturer, the manager of an everlasting torture-chamber called "hellfire"-- a word never used in the Bible.
But serious, and naive, "satanists" are dead wrong. Those who worship "demons" are on exactly the opposite track of where they should be. They are spiritually backwards and upside-down. Their hatred for an illusory and ludicrous "God" has driven them into spiritual insanity.

Godimages

There is a great negative, antispiritual force at work in the human mind. This has been personified, among ancient and primitive peoples, as the "devil." In an enlightened life, the only "devil" is fear, Love's opposite.
Originally, says the legend, "satan" was one of the faithful followers and servants of God (Love). But pride, or egotism, created a being of insecurity and evil within the Mind. Negativity and antispirituality are very strong among primitive, undeveloped species with tiny brains, such as human beings. Although we are capable of reaching for the spiritual condition of the Christ, we also contain the negative anti-pole of an interior Hitlermind. Life is largely the conflict between the interior Mind of God (Love) and the mind of "demons," "devil," or fear.
Fear continues to fight with Love within all human beings. Fear has generated the monstrosity of a god of terror, vengeance, and related fearbased qualities. Many worship this monstergod, who behaves in a way that we would and could never accept from any sane human being: What would we think of an angry old man who took his beautiful daughters in the back yard and burned them alive on a barbecue? Or, what if he just slaughtered them?
We would recognize instantly, and sickeningly, that this old guy was psychotic. Any responsible religious or community leader would insist that he be locked up, for the safety of all.
The modern godimage was created four thousand years ago, by very bloody, violent, evil men-- soldiers, kings, generals, and backwards "prophets." None of these men was a tower of softness or compassion. These men actually "solved problems" by killing people, including the stoning of their own disobedient children. Naturally, being sick with ego, they assumed that god was exactly like them. So, they formulated the ghastly Jehovah-myth-- a false god of horror, nightmarish injustice, and monstrous cruelty.
Jesus came with a very different vision of God, God as pure Love. But the people were ready for neither Him nor for His beautiful vision of God. The lower nature of ignorance preferred, and still prefers, the barbaric god of war, blood, and vengeance.
It was only because Jesus was born in Palestine that people assume that this Jehovah was the God of Jesus. If Jesus had been born in Greece, people would be worshipping Zeus, the godking of Greek religion. That it was not is proved by the fact that the "ancient witnesses of Jehovah" were behind his murder.
Men and women controlled by fear are barely affected by Love. They actually prefer a god that is more like themselves. In the Middle Ages, when people "solved problems" within the Church by torturing others to death, it seemed that their god was like these vicious and obscene inquisitors, for torture was quite "acceptable" to them. So, they distorted the universal Mind so that It contained all their ugliness. For violent, ignorant, and stupid people prefer a god that is just like them.

Illusions

Nothing real exists outside of Love, or the Mind of the Creator. But some illusions, such as hatred, ignorance, bigotry, dishonesty, falsehood, lies, and similar patches of darkness lack the Light of God.
In illusions is fear created, and so, all fear-- all "devils" and "demons"-- are fear, a part of the unreality that "exists" in mind only, but has no real existence in the real mind. These things exist with the same reality as dream-images in our night-dreams. If we ask whether a dream exists, the answer is yes. But if we ask whether the objects and characters of the dream really exist, the answer is no. It is the same way with our everyday world. God allows us to dream up various illusions, such as fear, in order to put our spiritual qualities to the test. But a big and important part of enlightenment is seeing the fog-critters and phantasms as nothing more than realistic illusions.
Upon close examination, they are all "paper tigers," made of smoke and mirrors.
